2006 Royal Foals

It's hard to believe that foaling season is finally here.  2006 is our 5th foaling season with King.  Each year we look forward to our "grandbabies" coming into the world and are constantly amazed by them.  We have come to know the  "type" of foals King sires, no matter what mare he's bred to.  Most have inherited Kings face and regal presence, his full mane & tail, correct conformation, they all have people loving personalities, athletic ability and are easy to work with.  All foals born at Neil 'N' K are imprinted at birth or soon thereafter (in case we miss birthing). We've seen many different colors and patterns emerge and most all foals have been given at least a star and some leg white. So far King throws a majority of buckskin foals (14) with bay (3)coming up second in color.  He's also had one black/smoky black and one bay roan foal.

3/18/06 - It was hard taking photos of Jewel today.  She's such a puppy dog in the field and stood attached at my hip the whole time I was out with them. She has no fear and no problem walking away from the herd to be with people.  She's worked with several times a week and really looks forward to her "play time".  She doesn't think it's work!

Jewel's pretty face July 6th, 2006

Jewel's coat looks dark in the photos but she is more of a dark golden brown color.  Time will tell what color she REALLY is at shedding.  She has personality plus!

More photos coming soon!!  Welcome to the World Little Jewel!

Jewel jumped the fence during an exercise period, fell and injured her neck.  After medication and stall rest, we were able to have xrays taken of the injured area confirming that she had broken her neck.  The break has fused without calcification but her condition remains guarded until maturity.  Although previously sold, Jewel will be staying on our farm where she will hopefully survive this break to grow to be a big girl.  At the moment she looks & acts like a normal, healthy filly with a larger neck in the area of the break.  Time will tell so stay tuned.

Kings Continentl Mac

2006 AQHA Buttermilk Buckskin Colt - Born March 14th at 9:30pm

Star on Forehead, Rear Sock & Pastern, Frosting In Mane & Tail

King Wimpy Matador X Bugs Alive Baby (sorrel mare)

Below photos taken 3/15/06 approximately 6pm.  Imprinted at birth.  This little man is a real royal beauty with an honest ivory buttermilk coat. He displays a slight smuttiness around his eyes, neck and back.  He's getting used to his halter in the photos below and continuing education.  He loves people and is eating very well.  Mom Bugsy is doing great and it was an easy delivery.  So far, he's leading well, backing, giving to pressure and has Kings invisible lead changes.  He is priced at his present worth and if not sold, will become our junior stallion.  Stay tuned for more photos.

Kings Lil' Miss Punkin

2006 AQHA Smoky Buckskin Filly - Born March 15th at 3:30am

King Wimpy Matador x Panita Bar Pacific (bay or bay roan mare)

This beautiful girl was welcomed into the world on the morning of March 15th with the full moon.  She's currently a smoky buckskin and displays her daddy's smutty gene around her eyes, on her neck, withers, hips and "dorsal" stripe on her back. She doesn't appear to have any facial white and possibly a white coronet on her right rear foot. In all probability she will become a darker buckskin but will be a buckskin through and through.  What a beautiful girl.  We wish we could see you face to face little angel.

Congratulations to Miss Panita Bar Pacific and owner Natalie Smith of Missouri!    Welcome to the world little royal Miss.

She's easy to get attached to.  Joy loves to run and is very curious.  She's met the dogs, goats and just has a blast with everything new.  We're so happy welcome you into the world little girl.  God Bless you.

Kings Immortal Storm

2006 AQHA Golden Buckskin Filly

Right rear Stocking, Left Rear Sock, Star, Strip & Snip, White on Lower Lip.

King Wimpy Matador X Zetas Skippn Miracle

Storm is one awesome little girl.  She was born during a pretty tumultuous thunderstorm 4/3/06.  We think the weather encouraged Miracle to foal because she did not appear to be ready.  When Neil went to do the morning feeding, he discovered that we had our own little lightening bolt that arrived with the storm.  We missed her arrival but what a grand entrance for this little royal Miss!

Storm is a tall, stout little lady with a buttermilk coat.  She displays Kings smutty gene around her eyes, on her neck, withers and "dorsal" stripe (not to be confused with dun). Her mane and tail are black with frosting in her tail.  The dorsal stripe begins at her mane, extends to her tail and ends in a zig zag pattern down her tail that looks like a black lightening bolt.  She has a left hind sock, right rear stocking, star, stripe & snip, and white on her lower lip.  The stocking and white lower lip are from her grandmother Zeta who has bestowed Storm with the Sabino gene.

Upon weaning, Storm will be moving to Poplarville, Mississippi with Valeria and Nick Geraci.  Valerie & Nick survived Katrina's visit in 2005 and think Storm's name rather fits.

Here I am lying down in my stall.  4/3/06                   See, I look just like Dad 4/3

Whinnying at Grandma Kelly     My smutty cheeks and withers come from Dad too!

Unfortunately my digital camera met up with a 32 ounce coke several weeks ago and though has not been laid to rest yet, did stop working.  I'm using a disposable until I buy a new one so be patient with me.  The above pictures were scanned in from prints and the scanner tends to put gray lines on whiter areas.

Storm is being offered for sale - please see our sale barn page.

Follow this link to Steinbeck Country Equine Clinic's Foaling Calculator.  It's the one we've used for years.  Unless we have an average gestation length to go by, we use 340 days to calculate a mares due date.
