Put A Little
Royalty In Your Barn Next Spring At Neil 'N' K, we believe that the comfort and safety of your mare and foals (as well as our own) are our top priority. We request that each mare/foal have a questionnaire and owner contact sheet on file so we may provide the best possible care for her and a sound basis for a successful pregnancy. Our "girls" are part of our family and we'll treat yours with the same respect and care as our own. We know how anxious you as the owner can be while your mare is in the care of someone else. As a service and courtesy, we provide frequent updates on your mare and foal's progress and condition, usually through the convenience of email. We further protect your mares with the installation of security cameras and discourage visitors when we are not in attendance. We suggest that you bring your mare in just prior to the start of her regular heat cycle or 5 days after foaling if breeding on foal heat. This way we know for certain when she begins. A mare's heat cycle and "show" behavior can differ from her normal behavior at home when in the presence of a stallion. As long as a mare is receptive, she will be bred every other day from beginning to end of their heat cycle when standing for live cover. Ovulation normally occurs during the last 24 hours of a mares cycle and we never know how long a mare will cycle. Average normal heat cycle is 5-9 days and foal heat average is 3-5 days. Please be advised that we have seen mares stand for King anywhere between 2 days to 12 days. We do NOT use hobbles on a mare at any time. King is an easy stallion to breed and the mares are put at ease with his non-aggressive manner, which is why we think we've seen some longer heat cycles. King is the best true heat detector we know and we trust his instincts as a stallion. If he does not say the mare is ready, we do not breed. Our Breeding season runs from February 1st to August 1st. Although our own emphasis is on breeding foundation quarter horses, we accept all registered AQHA, APHA and TB mares for breeding. King is listed and approved with the APHA. Since color genetics is NOT an exact science, we can not offer a color guarantee. All Impressive Bred mares MUST be certified HYPP N/N (on registration)
